Pictures of our Excursion

We went out down Nevsky and only took a few pictures because we intend on going back and taking more. But here they are!

This great owl over the entry to a jewler's store:

The Spilled Blood on Nevsky:

Me (looking a bit odd) in front of it:

The Spilled Blood gets slack for having never been a religious cathedral, but it is the thing I have wanted to see most for a long time. It was built as a memorial to Alexander II, by his son, on the exact place he died (someone tried to bomb him, missed, and got out of his carriage to help and was hit that time). The canal had to be moved over for it to be built there. It is filled on the inside with mosaics of creation to the endtimes. Can't wait to go back and take more time there!
